Food Blog.  Yuck.  What a disenchanting merger of two rather unfortunate words.  Food. Doesn’t even rhyme with good.  Not that it would help.  Blog…..…makes me shudder.

There is a lovely word for ‘food’ from Haitian Creole:  manje.   And  ‘diary’ translates as:  jounal.

Welcome to my Jounal Manje!

I’ll be writing about what’s good to eat, where to get particular ingredients in Toronto, and occasionally, environmental, health, and economic aspects of food.  There won’t be restaurant reviews.  There will be recipes – formal versions as well as casual.

Why Oolong Rouge?  Because it’s so much fun to say!  I’ll see if I can further justify its usage along the way with some tea ‘infused’ recipes.

Maureen, I’ve been catching up on my reading, and have thoroughly enjoyed your blog. Your beautiful writing brings to life the aromas, tastes and experiences of which you write (the stunning photos compliment beautifully, but the prose is really what evokes feelings/memories). Bravo and bon appetit!

What a lovely site. Love your writing style, and your humour is almost as bad (read good) as mine.

Thank you for the compliments Milan, the good and the bad. I look forward to hearing more about your own kitchen adventures, as I know that you are a helluva cook!
